Captain Cosmic traverses the galaxy with
his associates Sergeant Star
and Commander Crabbe. They act as goodwill
ambassadors to the cosmos,
Guardians of Universal Peace, and all-round
problem solvers. Which is just
as well the galaxy is being held to ransom by
the likes of Interface the cyborg,
Roogal Van Cash the daring interstellar
thief, and the evil Lord Ska...
Captain Cosmic and company made their first
appearances in the youth
magazine "Cosmic", before leaping
in to the pages of the weekly puzzler
"Take a Puzzle". The gang appear
here in short blue-shaded strips, a star
system away from the grand adventures
which grace the likes of the first
Captain Cosmic book. In those hardback pages
the strip blossomed into
fantastic full-colour tales in a galaxy
packed with alien races and adventure
- "cosmic" strips, indeed, with titles
like Gritty City
Splang Bang! and
Turtle
Recall.
Two of the strip's three creators, writer/designer
Guy Campbell and artist Paul
Moran were/are partners in Moran Campbell
da Vinci. Their design company was
started in 1990 with help from The Princes
Youth Business Trust and they
produced a whole wealth of award winning
designs, cartoons, puzzles, toys and
artwork for clients around the globe. Inker Simon
Ecob, meanwhile, has since
moved on to alternative inking adventures
with Nucomix...
