Cats in hats upon the box (07.10.10)

Fancy that!
A very fine cat!
A very fine cat, with a tall stripey hat!
Originally drawn by Dr Seuss
This friendly feline's been let loose
Upon the box, for our enjoyment
With Collingwood O'Hare behind his deployment!
Okay, okay, we'll stop before Ted Giesel's lawyers come a-knocking
and a-ringing - rat-a-tat-tat - for mocking their most famous
cat.
What we're trying to say is, there's a big stripey new show
in town.
Or should we say, it's on CiTV.
"The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot
About That!" takes us on a series of informative adventures
with
Dr. Seuss'
exuberant creation (as voiced by Martin Short), and
his two young pals Sally and Nick, with Fish, Thing 1 and
Thing 2
along for the ride. The series takes its cue from the best-selling
Beginner Book collection "The Cat in the Hat's Learning Library"
published by Random House, and it sees the gang taking flight
in Cat's spectacular, fantastical Thingamajigger machine to
learn about the big bright world around them.
There are 24 x 12mins episodes currently airing on CiTV, with
further episodes from a commission of 80 shows being delivered
in the run up to Christmas. And although this might come across
as an All-American presentation, there is in fact significant
UK
involvement, courtesy of our very own BAFTA-winning friends at
Collingwood O'Hare.
If you want greater detail, we can tell you
"The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!" has
been produced
by Collingwood O'Hare Productions and co-production partners
Portfolio Entertainment Inc. in association with Dr. Seuss
Enterprises, Random House Children's Entertainment,
Treehouse and PBS...
Serves you right for asking, doesn't it?
Cat in the Hat. Collingwood O'Hare. That's the important thing.
Do we also need to tell you that Tony Collingwood and Chris
O'Hare
are the multi-award-winning duo behind the likes of The
Secret Show,
Yoko! Jakamoko! Toto!,
Animal Stories, Eddy
and the Bear,
"Harry & His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs", Gordon
the Garden Gnome,
and Dennis & Gnasher
from The Beano?
