"Fee Fo Fo Fum" by Raymond Briggs

02/06/08 - Fee Fi Fo Fum
It's been a ridiculously long time since anything was added
to these pages. But, at last, here's a bit more bibliography
info to share with you. Fee Fi Fo Fum was the third in
Mr Briggs' trilogy of nursery rhyme anthologies, produced
     in the early '60s...

         Bogeys & Snow

I was 10 years old when I wrote to Raymond Briggs. I'd just read
'Fungus The Bogeyman' for the first time and I simply couldn't
believe how good it was. It was a comic book, sort of. But it was
also a book, sort of. I'd never read anything quite like it. I was
fascinated by the putrid boil-infested world of Bogeydom in all
its glorious
green detail and I wanted to see what the author
looked like, I wanted this man's autograph - better yet, one of
his bogeys! In the end what I got from his publishers, Hamish
Hamilton, was a brief  blue-biroed apology: 'Sorry, we don't have
any signed
photos of Raymond Briggs. Hope these will console you.'
And in the envelope I found five fung-tastic bookmarks and a
sheet of Fungus stickers - fab promotional items which I've
savoured since the day I got them. The note itself was a curious
thing. It was scrawled on the back of a postcard. On the front
was a light crayoned picture of a smiling snowman with a hat
and scarf and bright button nose. 'The Snowman by Raymond
Briggs - publication September 1978', it said. The Snowman
entered my world that Christmas....
